Scholarships

The MMTA is committed to the education of its members. A Scholarship program has been established to help defray the cost of continuing education for members. The following guidelines are the basis for scholarship awards:
  • Applicants must maintain membership as an Active Member, as defined in Article III, Section 1 of the MMTA Bylaws, for at least 12 months immediately prior to submitting a scholarship application.
  • Scholarship may be provided for any MMTA-sponsored function that awards MiCPT or CPFA points.
  • Applicants must be refused funding by their municipality. Proof of refusal must be submitted with the scholarship application in the form of a letter from the mayor, supervisor, manager, or department head. A copy of the adopted minutes from the Board meeting at which the funding was refused is also acceptable.
  • Scholarships can be applied to registration fees and may or may not be awarded for the full fee. No funds will be awarded for lodging, meals or transportation costs.
  • The MMTA Board shall only approve scholarships if designated funds are available in the budget.
  • Scholarships shall be awarded on a first come, first served basis provided the applicant meets all other qualifications.
  • No more than one scholarship shall be granted to any applicant or municipality in any one calendar year. No more than three scholarships shall be awarded to any one individual or municipality in a 10-year period.
