2020-21 Basic Institute

Register for Basic here. Remember, you must be a MMTA member to attend Basic Institute.

Basic Institute has been rescheduled to a hybrid program that includes both online and in-person classes. The online classes are offered on the below dates and must be attended; each attendee must complete a short questionnaire to confirm attendance. If you are unable to attend the dates below (or register after the dates of the classes), you will be able to make up the commitment in another way (watching the recorded webinar, if available, completing a stand alone assignment, etc.). The online classes will also be open to other MMTA members; Basic attendees do NOT have to register separately for these sessions - they are included in your Basic registration fee.

  • Operations in a Crisis: Panel Discussion, November 19, 9:30-11:00 am
  • Internal Politics of Government and How to Resolve, December 3, 9:30-11:30 am
  • Communicating Critical Issues to Challenging Audiences, December 9, 1:00-3:00 pm
  • Cash Handling in a Changing World, December 16, 9:30-11:30 am
  • Welcome to Public Treasury, January 21, 1:00-4:00 pm

We're providing classes online this year in order to provide some training sooner as opposed to later. This will also shorten the in-person training, which starts on Monday, April 26 at noon and will conclude on Thursday, April 29 at noon. We are hopeful this helps control lodging costs for attendees in the case of limited travel budgets. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to contact us at [email protected]

NOTE: If you had already made reservations at the Comfort Inn and Suite in Mt. Pleasant, your reservation was automatically rescheduled for April 25-28, 2021; you should have received a confirmation/change notice via email from the hotel. Please confirm that your reservation is correct for your needs and make any adjustments directly with the hotel.

For more information on the changes to this year's Institute, please view this message from MMTA President, Rande Listerman.
